FAQ




Q: How would I know if there is a school closing, early dismissal, or delay?

A: The District Superintendent's Office uses an automated calling system to alert families of school closings, early dismissals, delays, and other events.

 

You can tune into any of the following radio stations or TV stations for up to date information:

Q: What happens when there is a delay? 

A:

1 HOUR DELAY:  Elementary students will start at 10:20 AM. (School doors will open at 9:45 AM and arrivals after 10:20 AM will be considered late.) Busses will pick up students 1 hour later than the usual pick-up time. NO Breakfast served at school on a delay day. Cheese pizza and PBJ will be the only items available to students buying lunch.


2 HOUR DELAYElementary students will start at 11:20 AM.  (School doors open at 10:45 AM and arrivals after 11:20 AM will be considered late.) Morning busses will pick up students 2 hours later than the usual pick-up time. NO Breakfast served at school on a delay day. Cheese pizza and PBJ will be the only items available to students buying lunch. 

 

 In delay situations, dismissal is at 3:55 PM. 

 

Q: At what age can my child begin Kindergarten?

A: The entrance age for kindergarten students of the Stroudsburg Area School District shall be five (5) years or by September 1st.  This age requirement also applies to out of state, public and private school transfer students.

 

Q: What do I need to register my child?

A: Please contact Central Registration at 570-213-3669 and ask for new enrollment information. In order to complete the process, you will need the following information:

 Personal Information

  • Original Birth Certificate or Passport
  • Up-to-date Immunization Records
  • Two official Proofs of Residency, e.g.: current utility bills, lease or deed, payment of earned income tax from Berkheimer Associates, selective service card, voter registration card, registration of motor vehicle card, driver's license, and automobile insurance card. 
  • Your most recent report card or grades to date / transcripts 
  • IEP's ER's, Psychological/Psychiatric reports 

 District Forms (Pick up at school office)

  • Student Registration Form - A fully completed registration form with parent/guardian signature.
  • PIN# (Property Identification Number) which can be found on your tax bill or by calling your local tax collector or the county Tax Assessor's Office at (570) 420-3412.
  • Signed Weapons Document to be signed in the presence of a school representative.
  • Home Language Survey
  • Release of Records form (including address of former school)
  • Emergency Card - both sides. (must have two local emergency contact phone numbers).
  • Signed Parental Consent for Use of Student Photograph, Videotape, or Other Image Document.
  • Transportation Registration (this will be completed by the elementary school's office)
  • Student Developmental History, Free / Reduced Lunch, Custody Papers, or any specially designed school or guidance forms.

When a special education student transfers to the Stroudsburg Area School District from another Pennsylvania school district, our district will maintain the IEP from the previous Pennsylvania school district pending preparation and implementation of a new IEP.


Q:
How can I pay for my child's lunch(es)?

A: Please send in cash or check payable to "Morey Cafeteria" in a sealed envelope with your child's name and ID number, teacher's name, and "lunch $" written on the front. Money can also be deposited online through MySchoolBucks.


Q: What is the routine for dropping off or picking up my child at dismissal time?

A:

Morning Car Line (Drop-off): Drive around to the east side of the building and form two lines at the Main Entrance door #12. Please refrain from using a cell phone when loading/unloading your child. Vehicles must be in park (emergency brake engaged if your vehicle is a standard). Please wait for a staff member to open the car door for your child to exit. Students will be admitted into the building beginning at 8:45am. After 9:20am students are considered late and must be signed in at the office.

Afternoon Car Line (Pick-up): Children who will be picked up by car at the end of the day must have a note informing the teacher and office regarding who will pick up your child. Staff will begin to release students at 3:50pm. Drive around to the east side of the building and form two lines at the Main Entrance door #12. Please refrain from using a cell phone when loading/unloading your child. Vehicles must be in park (emergency brake engaged if your vehicle is a standard). A staff member will open your car door, place child in seat, and assist if necessary with securing safety belt. Please be sure to follow the State Law for child safety seats and restraints. Every driver must sign and complete a pick up slip and hand it to a staff member before leaving. Kindergarten students will not be released to anyone under the age of 18. DO NOT PULL AWAY until directed by School Security.

Walkers – AM: Students will cross at the Main Street light with the assistance of School Security. Students should walk in front of Morey Elementary and turn left to walk along the east side of the building. Doors open at 8:45am. Students will enter the Main Entrance door #12.

Walkers – PM: Students will exit at door #2 on the west side of the building. A staff member will begin to release students at 3:50pm. Your child will ONLY be released to individuals authorized in writing by the parent/guardian. Kindergarten students will not be released to anyone under the age of 18. NO CARS are permitted to park in the High School lot to pick up a student at the walker door. Please proceed to the car line if driving.

 

Q: What if I need to pick up my child before dismissal time?

A:

Early Dismissal: If you need to pick up your child prior to the 3:50pm dismissal, a note or phone call must be received by the Main Office prior to 2:45pm. Please arrive at the office before 3:20pm. After 3:20pm you must use the car line. No child will be dismissed from the office after 3:20pm.


Q:What if I need to speak with my child's teacher?

A:You can call the school and leave a message for your child's teacher. In most cases they are able to return phone calls by the end of the day. You can also send a note directly to your child's teacher, so they can call you during their palnning period.
